Ergonomics support shaped around your workplace.
Workplace ergonomics questions rarely have one-size-fits-all answers. La Delfa Research & Ergonomics provides assessments, consulting, programs, education, and technical support tailored to the people, work, environment, and decisions involved.
01Workplace ergonomics assessments
Understand the workplace before deciding what comes next.
Workplace ergonomics assessments examine the factors relevant to a defined concern, task, workstation, or work environment. The aim is to provide clear findings, practical priorities, and recommendations appropriate to the context involved.
Appropriate situations may include
- a specific workstation, task, or workplace concern;
- questions about how people interact with equipment or the work environment;
- a need to understand relevant ergonomics factors before making changes; or
- follow-up support interpreting assessment findings.
The assessment scope and outputs are established before work begins. Depending on the question, an engagement may involve workplace observation, discussion with relevant people, review of available information, analysis, and written or verbal recommendations.
Professional boundary: Assessments provide ergonomics findings and recommendations within the agreed scope. They do not guarantee injury prevention, establish medical causation, or replace medical, engineering, legal, or regulatory advice where those disciplines are required.
02Workplace ergonomics consulting and programs
Build ergonomics into workplace decisions and practices.
Consulting supports organization-level questions that extend beyond a single assessment. This may involve workplace design or change, equipment and process decisions, ergonomics practices, or the development and improvement of workplace ergonomics programs.
Appropriate situations may include
- planning a workplace, process, equipment, or organizational change;
- developing a consistent approach across a team or organization;
- reviewing an existing ergonomics process or program;
- establishing priorities and practical next steps; or
- obtaining ongoing advice for defined questions.
Effective workplace ergonomics programs connect assessment, participation, action, education, and review. The appropriate structure depends on the organization, work, existing systems, and objectives involved.
Professional boundary: Consulting recommendations inform organizational decisions but do not constitute engineering approval, legal advice, or a guarantee of regulatory compliance.
03Ergonomics training and education
Help people understand and apply ergonomics at work.
Training translates ergonomics science into practical knowledge for employees, managers, health and safety representatives, and workplace teams. Content is tailored to the audience, work environment, and learning objectives involved.
Potential formats
- workplace presentations and webinars;
- employee or manager education;
- team or committee learning sessions; and
- education connected to an assessment, change initiative, or ergonomics program.
Sessions should help participants understand relevant ergonomics principles, recognize when a workplace question needs attention, and make better-informed decisions within their roles.
Professional boundary: Training builds awareness and capability but does not replace a qualified assessment where individual, technical, medical, engineering, or regulatory evaluation is required.
04Research and technical consulting
Apply ergonomics science to defined technical questions.
Research and technical consulting supports organizations that need help interpreting evidence, reviewing an ergonomics question, or bringing specialized ergonomics and biomechanics insight to a defined project.
Appropriate situations may include
- interpreting ergonomics or biomechanics evidence for a workplace decision;
- reviewing technical information, methods, or assumptions;
- contributing ergonomics expertise to a defined organizational project; or
- relating established evidence and current developments in ergonomics science to a workplace question.
Academic separation: This service provides independent consulting support. Formal research collaborations involving university resources, students, funding, publication, or institutional participation are conducted separately through Ontario Tech University under appropriate agreements.
Experience
Relevant across different kinds of work.
La Delfa Research & Ergonomics brings experience supporting ergonomics needs in office, manufacturing, and mining environments. Manufacturing is a particular area of research depth and practical experience, while office ergonomics support applies across many organizational sectors.
The setting alone does not determine the right service. Each inquiry begins with the workplace question, the people and work involved, and the decision the organization needs to make.
Process
Begin with the workplace question.
Discuss the need
Share the workplace context, the question or concern, who is involved, and what decision or outcome the organization is working toward.
Define the scope
Confirm the appropriate service, boundaries, information needs, delivery approach, outputs, timing, and commercial terms.
Complete the work
Gather and evaluate the information relevant to the agreed scope, using appropriate ergonomics evidence and professional judgment.
Clarify next steps
Communicate findings, priorities, recommendations, limitations, and practical next steps in a format suited to the engagement.
This is a general engagement framework, not a promise that every project contains identical stages or deliverables.
